The Monkees' last No. 1 hit

"Daydream Believer" by the Monkees was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 50 years ago. It was the group's third and final chart topper. The song was written by folk singer John Stewart shortly after he left the Kingston Trio. Stewart said that it was written as the third in a trilogy of songs about suburban life." READ MORE

Dolenz reflects on 50 years of Monkee business

Before he takes the stage on Sunday, Dolenz took a few minutes from his touring schedule to reflect on his historic career, his current projects, and the longevity of the band with which he’s strongly associated. “Last year, we (The Monkees) had our 50th anniversary tour — isn’t that crazy?” Dolenz said. “Hard to believe it’s been that long, but we also had a new album ‘Good Times!’out that hit the charts — 50 years after the band originally got together.
